First boot and network

Every fresh system asks these once, on the console. Nothing about any network is preset. Without an Ethernet card the network and repository questions are skipped.

Wait for each question to appear before you type; keys pressed while the system is still starting are lost.

PromptAnswer
What is the nodename of this machine? [amix]RETURN or a name
What is this machine's network domain? […]RETURN or your domain
(time zone menu)RETURN keeps the default, or the number of your zone

Do you want the system logging daemon enabled? [y]RETURN
Do you wish to change any of these? [n]RETURN after checking the summary

The date and time are not asked: the system clock comes from the battery clock. Set it from AmigaOS, and never into the future.

Then login: root with the password you just set.

X on the Z3660

Answer n to the dialog's X question: it is for the A2410. On the K1 desktop, as root on the console: startx-rtg (1024x768), or startx-rtg 800x600. OPEN LOOK on the Z3660's RTG.

Network later

Skipped networking on a Z3660? Set the FALLBACK (address), NETMASK and GATEWAY lines near the top of /etc/rc2.d/S99zen, shut down, switch off and on.

Two Z3660s on one network need different MAC addresses: see the card page.

Switching off: as root, shutdown -i0 -g0 -y, then wait 10 seconds after the halt message. Never reboot or shutdown -i6 on a real 68060: the Z3660 cannot reset the CPU.
